FEDERAL HOUSE COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION VISITS LAGOS STATE

The Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC) fund is an annual grant by the federal Tgovernment to help states upgrade their primary education facilities in order to provide a solid educational foundation for the nation’s children. To access the fund, state governments are required to match the federal government’s grant strictly for primary education expenditure. It was against this backdrop that the federal house committee on Education embarked on visitation to some states. Lagos state was one of the states visited and the delegation was led by house committee chairman on basic education Honourable Zakari Mohammed who was delighted with gov Akinwunmi Ambode -led administration’s interest and commitment to basic education noting that the government has continue to provide enabling environment for basic education to thrive in the state. Her Excellency Dr. (Mrs.) Idiat Adebule who received the delegation on behalf of the state government in her Office thanked the delegation and promised that the annual grant shall be spent judiciously. On his part,the executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB Dr. Ganiyu Sopeyin gave the vote of thanks and reiterated his team commitment to taking basic education to higher level in the state.
