The 12th edition of the inter agency football competition otherwise Tknown as the ‘HOS Cup’ among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) including Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State may have come and gone but the memories will continue to linger. This will be the first time an Agency, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) will win both Male and Female category and also Education District IV came third in both male and female category. In the male category, SUBEB defeated Ministry of Justice by a lone goal while in the female category SUBEB defeated Ministry of Agric by 4 goals to nil. The objective of the tournament is to nurture the spirit of sportsmanship and promote physical and mental wellbeing while identifying sporting talent that could represent the state public service at a larger fora and had 64 MDA’s participated in the competition. This year edition has some new significant innovations which include the unveiling of a unique branded logo, co – operate sponsorship, compulsory medical test for all participating teams a n d issuance of medical certificate of fitness as a precondition of players participation and tug of war game amongst members of paramilitary organisations in the State Public Service. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was represented by Commissioner for Establishment,Training Pensions Dr. Akintola Benson at the finals which was played at Agege statadium. In his speech, the governor was delighted to observe that the spirit of sportsmanship has become enshrined in the workforce of the state civil service and that there is no better way to exemplify this, than to note the coordination and team spirit displayed by various opposing teams both in the male and female category. According to the governor, the state public service has continue to help government in actualizing the vision of his administration in its quest to move Lagos State to the next level.
