The Lagos State Government has expended a lot of resources and energy towards repositioning public schools and effectively control and monitor private sector operators. This calls for support on the part of all stakeholders in the state. It also demonstrates to the public that in Lagos State, Every Child Matters. Thus the need by the government to create an internet community of all schools in the state to serve as platform through which the government can reach out to the schools and the schools can interact amongst themselves. Through a Memorandum of Understanding with Global Education Media (Nig.) Limited, the Lagos Schools Online Project is thus created.
The technical operation of the portal is handled by Global Education Media (UK) Limited, a sister company owned and run by professional teachers and Information Technology (IT) experts working in concert with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology seeks to bring the benefit of their knowledge to the management of the school system in Lagos State under the aegis of the Lagos State Government.
With our portal, all schools in Lagos will have a fully interactive HOMEPAGE, become easily searchable and contactable by anyone from every part of the globe. This will provide a central point of information/communication for all schools within the state. Government officials, planners and researchers can reach the schools individually, in segmented groups or pan-network at the click of a button. This is the beginning of environmental friendly paperless communication with, between and amongst schools in the state.
With the lagosschoolsonline.com project, each school in Lagos State will have the opportunity to project itself in terms of what they have achieved in the past, build a pictorial history of their schools, past pupils can return to the site in 20years time or longer and see their old pictures on their school pages, publish their school newsletter, upload their application form year book and video clips of their events and activities, they can highlight the areas in which they are facing challenges and this can present an opportunity for interested stakeholders e.g. parents, old students, business within the community to intervene and become part of something good in the state.
