School History
"A BRIEF HISTORY OF ISHERI OSUN COMMUNITY JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL Isheri Osun, Lagos State, Nigeria Introduction Isheri Osun Community Junior Secondary School is a public secondary educational institution located in Isheri Osun, Lagos State, Nigeria. The school was established as part of the community's commitment to providing accessible and quality education to the youth of Isheri Osun and its surrounding areas. It stands as a testament to the collective resolve of the community to nurture the intellectual development of its children. Establishment and Early Days (2009) The school officially opened its doors on 23rd September, 2009, marking a significant milestone for education in the Isheri Osun community. Following the necessary preparations and administrative groundwork, academic activities formally commenced on 28th September, 2009 — just five days after the school's opening. This swift transition from opening to teaching reflected the community's eagerness and readiness to begin educating its young people. First Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Meeting Demonstrating strong parental involvement from the outset, the school held its first Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting on Friday, 9th October, 2009. The meeting commenced at approximately 3:00 p.m. and was well-attended, with 66 parents and guardians present. This encouraging turnout underscored the community's deep interest in the development and governance of the school, laying a solid foundation for the school-community partnership that would continue to shape the institution. Government Takeover (2011) A landmark moment in the school's history occurred on 1st February, 2011, when Isheri Osun Community Junior Secondary School was officially taken over by the Lagos State Government. This transition marked the school's formal integration into the state's public education system, bringing with it the structure, resources, and regulatory framework of government-managed secondary education in Lagos State. Following the official takeover, Mrs. Ogunlade B. M. assumed duty as the school's pioneer principal on 8th February, 2011. Her appointment was a defining moment, as she became the first principal to lead the institution under government administration, setting the tone for academic standards, discipline, and school culture in the years that followed. Leadership: A Succession of Principals Since Mrs. Ogunlade B. M. took the helm in February 2011, the school has been led by a total of 13 principals, each contributing to the growth and development of the institution. These successive leaders have guided the school through various phases of expansion, curriculum development, and community engagement, sustaining the vision upon which the school was founded. The current principal, Mrs. Etti-Abimbola M. O., continues this tradition of dedicated leadership, overseeing the day-to-day administration of the school and steering it towards greater academic excellence and institutional progress. Legacy and Significance The story of Isheri Osun Community Junior Secondary School is one of organic growth — from a community-founded institution in September 2009 to a fully government-administered school by 2011. Over the years, through 13 principals and countless students, the school has remained a cornerstone of education in the Isheri Osun community. The meticulous record-keeping of these early events — captured in the school's register of important events — speaks to the pride and diligence of the school's founding administration, who understood that the story being written in those early weeks and years was one worth preserving for generations to come."

Future Plans for the School
"Future Plans and Aspirations As Isheri Osun Community Junior Secondary School looks to the future, the school's administration, staff, and community stakeholders remain united in their determination to raise the standard of education and improve the overall experience of every student who passes through its gates. A primary focus of the school's future agenda is the continuous improvement of students' performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The school is committed to implementing targeted academic support programmes, strengthening classroom instruction, and ensuring that every graduating student is adequately prepared to excel in this critical examination and transition confidently to senior secondary education. The school also recognises the urgent need for new and improved physical infrastructure. Most significantly, the school and the entire Isheri Osun community are earnestly looking forward to the Lagos State Government providing a standard school building that will not only improve the current junior secondary school but also pave the way for the establishment of a senior secondary school in Isheri Osun. The realisation of this dream would mean that students who complete their junior secondary education here would no longer need to travel far to continue their studies, as both the junior and senior secondary schools would be available within the community. Underpinning all of these goals is the school's commitment to deepening its partnership with the Isheri Osun community. The school believes that sustainable progress can only be achieved through the active involvement of parents, community leaders, alumni, and well-wishers working hand-in-hand with the school administration. Together, the vision is to build an institution that the entire community can be proud of — one that produces well-rounded, educated, and capable young Nigerians."
