School History
"HISTORY OF IGBOOYE COMMUNITY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, EPE The Founding of Our School Igbooye Community High School was established in January 1979 on 21.7 acres of land by a group of passionate educators. They aimed to provide quality education to the local community, which was lacking in educational facilities at that time. The history of our school is a captivating tapestry of events, people, and values that have shaped its present. The school started as a co-educational technical college with boarding facilities, with just a handful of students and teachers, operating out of a modest building. In the early 80s, the school evolved dramatically into a full secondary school, reflecting the changing societal dynamics, educational philosophies, and cultural shifts over the years. The founding fathers aimed to create an institution that would provide a holistic education, focusing not only on academics but also on character development. In the beginning, the school had only two classrooms and 30 students. Despite the limited resources, the founders were determined to create a positive learning environment. In the early 90s, the school began to expand, reflecting the increasing importance of education in society. New buildings were constructed, including a science lab and a library, and the curriculum was expanded to include a wider range of subjects. The school also started to emphasize co-curricular activities, introducing sports and arts programs. Today, our school is renowned for its academic excellence and nurturing environment. It continues to uphold the founders’ vision, shaping the leaders of tomorrow. By mid-90s, the school had grown in both size and reputation. The introduction of science, commercial and arts streams in the curriculum marked a significant milestone. This period also saw the establishment of the school’s first library, fostering a culture of independent learning and intellectual exploration. Today, our school stands as a testament to the vision of its founders. It continues to provide quality education, nurturing students into well-rounded individuals. The school’s history is a constant reminder of the power of perseverance, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. It inspires us to carry forward this legacy into the future.
