School History
Aje Comprehensive Senior High School traces its origin to a significant initiative by the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, a renowned religious organization. The school was founded with the primary objective of establishing a senior school to complement the existing Aje Comprehensive Junior School, which had been operational for several years but lacked a senior-level educational programme. The vision for the establishment of this school was driven by the strong connection between the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries and the institution. The driving force behind this noble effort was Mummy G.O. Olukoya, the wife of the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries. Mummy G.O. Olukoya, an alumna of Aje Comprehensive School, had graduated from the school decades ago and was motivated to give back to her alma mater. This visionary act of generosity culminated in the official donation of the school to the Lagos State Government on the 24th of November, 2018. The establishment of Aje Comprehensive Senior High School was a testament to the commitment of the founders to provide quality education and bridge the gap in senior secondary education in the community. Following the establishment, the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Mr. Erinle, Olumide swiftly appointed its first principal, Mr. Sanni Omotayo Layemo, who assumed duty on the 15th of October, 2019, bringing his leadership skills and educational expertise to the institution. Shortly after, the maiden vice-principal, Mrs. Babayemi Ololade joined the school on the 23rd of October, 2019, further solidifying the administrative team. The teaching staff was assembled, with Ms. Odeleye Olufunmilayo who was among the first set of teachers to join the ranks. The commitment to education was further demonstrated by the inclusion of the first Corps member, Ms. Motunrayo, who served as part of the school's team. The first student to be enrolled was Iyayi Elizabeth, who is coincidentally the overall best student of the school. NOTABLE ALUMNI AND ACHIEVEMENTS FROM NGOS: The very first Non Governmental Organisation to adopt the school was Selfless Service Foundation, founded by Miss Chelsea Jegede. Books and library furniture were donated to the school, which gave the school a better look depicting an academic environment that it truly is. In addition, Aje Comprehensive Senior High School takes immense pride in its alumni. The alumni network has played a crucial role in supporting the school's growth and development. One notable achievement of the alumni is their unwavering commitment to the school's progress. They have consistently demonstrated their dedication to providing a conducive learning environment for current students. In this spirit, the alumni donated additional furniture for students, ensuring that the school has the necessary resources to facilitate learning. Furthermore, the alumni took it upon themselves to construct a scaffolding structure with a water tank, which not only serves as a functional resource but also symbolizes their commitment to the school's infrastructure development. To add to their tangible contributions, the alumni have shown their support through the donation of several books. Notably, Mummy G.O. Olukoya, an esteemed alumna and one of the school's founding figures, has generously donated books to enrich the school's library and make available textbooks for students’ use. This act reflects her enduring dedication to education and her commitment to nurturing future generations of learners. Very recently, a corporate organisation, Cardinal Stone Investment Company, donated a world-class ICT Laboratory to the school. The laboratory is powered by solar energy, which is uninterruptible with a 24-hour internet connection plus a closed circuit television for the security of the facility and the school in general. As the school continues to evolve and grow, the achievements and contributions of several stakeholders stand as a testament to the enduring impact of a quality education and a supportive community. Aje Comprehensive Senior High School takes pride in its alumni and other benefactors with their ongoing commitment and contributions to the school's success. WRITING OF STANDARDIZED EXAMINATION: The school presented her first set of students for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination in 2020/2021 Academic Session, but the examination was written in a neighbouring school, Lagos City College This was due to some circumstances beyond the control of the school management. That notwithstanding, the school presented candidates for the 2021/2022 June/July NECO Examination, which followed the approval and recognition by this examination body on 30th march 2022. The school had her Full Scale and Subject Recognition Inspection on 20th October 2021, and this was done in preparedness to getting the school approved and recognised for the WAEC Examination. Delegates from WAEC came for inspection, and the school was approved and recognised for the WAEC Examination. The school presented her second set of students for the WAEC Examination, which was the first to be written in the name of the school in May/June 2023. The school recorded 78% pass in the examination, which was a landslide improvement from the one written the previous year. INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME: The history of the school can not be complete without mentioning the international exchange programme with Western College in Baltimore, USA. This programme serves as a conduit for sharing academic and cultural values and enriching the educational journey of our students. The primary objectives of this exchange programme are to foster cultural understanding, enhance academic experiences, and promote global awareness. Through student exchanges, cultural workshops, and academic collaboration, students gain a deeper appreciation of diverse perspectives and a broader worldview. Language proficiency and interpersonal skills are honed, preparing students to thrive in an interconnected world. SPECIAL GUESTS VISITATION Mrs. Adekanye, the Tutor General Permanent Secretary, Education District IV visited the school on the 10th of December, 2020, to investigate some students’ related matters in the school. Mrs Adekanye commissioned the newly furnished laboratories and the donation of several items to the school. Lagos State First lady, Dr(Mrs.) Claudina Ibijoke SANWO-OLU visited the school for the sensitisation against Sexual and Gender Based violence in the community. She donated a high definition photocopier machine to the school. The visitation was on the 6th of December, 2021. On the 15th December, 2021, Her Royal Highness Princess Moradeun Ogunlana gave scholarships to over twenty students with the overall best student getting a scholarship of Fifty Thousand Naira from her. The overall best student is coincidentally the first student enrolled in the school. Aje Comprehensive Senior High School has a rich history, rooted in its founding by the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries and this history will continue to be made owing to the skill and expertise of the renowned administrator, Mr. Sanni, Omotayo Layemo, and his formidable team who steered the wheel of the school.
