School History
The Lagos State Government in its bid to decongest some over populated schools in Ojo Local Education District and a way of bringing Secondary Education nearer to the community transferred 1,200 students to this school from neighbouring schools namely: Araromi Secondary School, Orile 507 Sari Iganmu High School, Orile 387 Iguanas High School, Orile 306 The school was commissioned by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Sir Michael Agbolade OTEDOLA on Monday March 15, 1993. It was commissioned under the name: JUBILEE MODEL GRAMMAR SCHOOL, SURULERE. The occasion was witnessed by a host of people from all walks of life; Obas, Chiefs, Market women, Artisans etc. There was a heavy downpour rainfall during the ceremony – a sign of heavenly blessings upon the school. The school opened with a total of 1,200 Students, 22 Teachers and 6 Non Teaching staff. The foundation Principal was Mrs. Abigail Ajibola ADEBOLA while the Vice Principal was Mr. P.J. WILKEY. The school commenced with 3 Blocks of 17+1 Prototype of classroom Building with Laboratory facilities. In January 1994, the school was given full recognition by WAEC for SSCE Examinations after a full recognition inspection was carried out. On January 11th, 1994 Mrs. O.O. Lawson took over from Mrs. Adebola who was redeployed to EKO Akete Grammar School, Lagos. The school’s major challenge over the years has been the perennial flooding. The school is sited on an area liable to flooding. The entire community is a flooded plain though. But successive governments have made appreciable efforts to control the flood. In January 2003, the school was divided into SENIOR and JUNIOR school. Mr. A.S. Ajirobake assumed duty at the Senior School while Mrs. O.O. Oduntan in the Junior School. At the senior section, Mr. Ajirobake retired statutorily in Year 2009 and Mr. A.T. Abdul, one of the foundation Teachers of the school in 1993 took over. An additional Block of 17+1 Prototype classroom was built in Year 2013 to accommodate the ever growing population of the school. Mr. A.T. Abdul was redeployed in September, 2017 to Akintan Senior Grammar School while Mr. Z.S. ADEBAYO, was deployed from Ijeshatedo Senior Secondary School, Surulere. The current principal is Mrs Atoyebi, A O who assumed office in 2020 and since then the school has continued to grow in leaps and bounds.
