- The school was founded in 1864 under a small shed in 1870 the shed gave way to a T shape building on 13th May 1953 the T shape building gave way for two-storey building and was completed on 28th September 1954 and commission by Hon. Ike Nwachukwu the the Fed. Minister for Education. On the 11th October 1954 the staff and pupils moved to occupy the new building. The school motto is NO CROSS NO CROWN. Many Bishops of Lagos State were the product of the school.
