School History

"After the education reform in Lagos State around 2003, secondary schools were administratively divided into Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) and Senior Secondary Schools (SSS). This led to the creation of Igbo-Owu Junior Secondary School and its senior counterpart. National & Global Robotics Success: The school emerged as the Overall Winner (Junior Category) in the 2021 Lagos State Schools Robotics Competition. Following this success, they represented Nigeria at the World Robot Olympiad, ranking 28th in the world and 3rd in Africa in the Junior Category. In 2019, they also secured a top-three position at the National Finals of the World Robot Olympiad, earning a spot to represent Nigeria in Hungary. Global and Continental Ranking: Following their state success, the school represented Lagos at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), where they ranked 3rd in Africa and 28th in the world in the junior category. Digital Literacy Hub: It was selected as a key participant in the Eko Digital initiative, an upskilling programme launched by the Lagos State Government to prepare students for future tech careers. Sports Participation: The school has a history of athletic involvement, including being part of the iTry Rugby programme, which introduces rugby to public schools in Lagos"
