School History
The school, Nine Brigade Primary School Military Cantonment was established in the year 1982. It derived its name Nine Brigade from the military (9) nine motorized Military Cantonment Ikeja. The school started with eight teachers in which were drafted from various schools to manage the school. After the next term, new teachers were recruited and the eighth teachers were sent back to their various schools. The school had total population 500 pupils at inception with 30 classrooms. In the year 1986, another Head Teacher was transferred to the school in the person of Mrs Oyebisi after retirement of the former Head teacher. As at this period, the school population had risen to 800 pupils. The school had active PCA Parent Teacher Association members which has been of great support to the school. In January 27 2002, there was a bomb explosion in Ikeja Military Cantonment which led to destruction of most of the schools in the Cantonment Including Nine Brigade Primary School Ikeja Military Cantonment. The school was given a temporary site inside the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) complex. With this incident, all documents relating to the school got burnt. The school was there after split into two. In which some staff and pupils were relocated to GRA Government Reserved Area in order to have enough space, while others were left in the Local Government Education Authority Complex. From the year 1991 till date, a number of head teachers have been deployed to the school.
