School History

Akande Dahunsi Memorial Senior High was established on 7th September 1981 as GOVERNMENT COLLEGE II, Osborne Road, Ikoyi. The school started with about 440 for 12 classes of Form 1 and 2. The students were from the disbanded Second Avenue High School and GC II. The school was later named after a renown educationist and erudite teacher, late Mr Akande Dahunsi, in Memorial. The school is located on a reclaimed land at the end of Osborne Road, Ikoyi. It is closed to the Dolphin NEPA Transmission Station by theexpressway. The school started with 3-blocks after the demolition of the old Jakande prefab structure. These current prototypes were built by Governor Gbolahan Mudashiru and commissioned by Mr T. A. Odofin, the Commissioner for Finance on 26th April, 1985. The school occupied the 3-blocks (1, 2, 3) at inception. In 1992, Community High School, Ilado was relocated to the premises. The school vacated Block 1 for Community High School, Ilado while making use of the other two blocks (2 & 3). This was the situation until January 2003. The colour of the school uniform was maroon and cream. It was later changed to black trousers and skirt with lilac check for the shirt and blouse. The school is now known as Akande Dahunsi Memorial Senior High School, Osborne School Complex, 2nd Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos

Administration are outstanding, the kids there are great. There is a different feel at penny. The kids are nicer and respectful.
