School History

"BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL. Girls' Academy was formally known and called Lewis Grammar school 1, Lagos. The school was founded in September 1980 and was sited on former premises of ministry of works. It was a co- educational one. It was formally opened on the 26th September 1980, on the 27th October, 1981, six out of the twelve arms of form LL were moved to government college lll, Osborne road, Ikoyi Lagos. The school metamorphosed from a co - educational type to all girls school in January 1983. A re -- arrangement of Lewis Grammar school l and ll was done . School l became girls school and school ll became boys school. The school l ( Girls school) became Girls' Academy while school school ll became Boys Academy. The splitting of Lagos State schools in the junior and senior category. The senior school inherited the old name Girls Academy while the junior school is called Girls' Junior Academy."
