The official opening of the school was performed by Mr.F.I Ajumogobia, Permanent Secretary to the federal ministry of Education on the 14th, October 1961 on behalf of the Federal Minister of Education -Hon.Aja Nwachukwu There were 8 classrooms with 268 pupils and 8 teachers with Mr.R.A Adele as the first Headmaster of the school .Mrs. E.I. Ndukuba is now the eleventh headmaster of the school
