School History

Hopebay College which is a co-education school was established in 1987. It is one of the highly rated approved Secondary Schools in Lagos State. The School was established as a follow-up to the good work and high academic standard set at bits Nursery and Primary Level, Hope Children School. Also in response to parents repeated requests to establish a secondary school where their wards can continue to receive the sound and qualitative education of which they are used to at the Primary level (as was the case of the establishment of the Primary from the Nursery School) The founder of the College, Late High Chief (Mrs.) Alicemay Oyinwola Oladapo J.P (Jomu-Lobun of Ondo Kingdom, 1st Yeye Oba of Ikole Ekiti, Ekiti State), who was an educationist and a philanthropist had a goal in establishing this institution. This was NOT necessarily to make profit but to assist in turning out academically, dynamic and morally sound students who will meet the present and future demands of the society. Hopebay College, the Headquarter is located on 2 and 1/2 acres of land in a conducive area of learning and is blessed with seasoned educational administrators, adequate number of qualified, devoted and experienced graduate teachers in various disciplines. The College also has well equipped Library, Modern Science Laboratories, Home Economics, good playground, Sickbay, well equipped Computer Studies Rooms, Music Room and Agric. Farm for practical Agriculture. Since its inception, the College has continue to maintain its set goals. The School's academic achievement in external examinations in 1992 has been second to none. The school records 100% pass yearly in SSCE conducted both West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO). To further attest to her high academic standard, the College in 1998, won the Lagos State Bournvita Brain Match in debate competition having came second in the previous years edition.
