School History

WELCOME TO GOPHERWOOD SCHOOL The name Gopherwood School was taken from Gopherwood Tree in the Bible (Genesis 6:14). Reading through that portion of scriptures I saw in Gopherwood Tree an embodiment of Strength and Longevity that resisted weather attacks and the greatest flood to give protection and guarantee life. Little wonder God's choice of Gopherwood Tree from other species of trees for the construction of life preserving Ark that is, Noah's Ark. Here, in Gopherwood School, we recognize that the foundation of any project reasonably determines its survival in life. This informed our determination to offer every child the Gopherwood Tree kind of Strength for Excellence. The Proprietress Mrs. Bello, G.O. is a seasoned teacher with a wealth of experience for over twenty years now having worked with Corona School as a teacher and then rose to the management level as a sectional head and later to Lekki British Junior School as a pioneer staff and later a Head Teacher at Lead-forte Gate Montessori School, Ogudu GRA before coming to start Gopherwood School in 2005 after returning from the United Kingdom after a summer course in Chester University. The Proprietress has attended several internationally recognized courses and conferences within the African continent and Europe. Amongst such courses are: The Foundation Stage of Learning at EDA Summer School in England and Developing Effective Schools, Classrooms and Students Institute organized by Association of International Schools in Africa (Asia) Ghana etc. She is an M.Sc. holder in Educational Psychology from University of Lagos, Akoka, B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics Education from Obafemi Awolowo University, ILE-IFE, Osun State etc. Gopherwood School is founded on experience and professionalism.
