Our Mission Statement

Education is knowledge and power. It is believed that the best legacy a parent can bestow on a child is to give him/her a very sound education. Melody Private School offers sound and qualitative education in a warm and relaxed learning environment where children experience the joy of learning at their own pace. Melody Private School is established with the general aim of providing a secure, happy, stimulating environment for education thereby imbibing in the child an enthusiastic interest for learning early in life. This will be a catalyst for the child's further educational advancement. It is also aimed at giving sound guidance, good example and teaching so that each child would have the opportunity to develop spiritually, mentally, emotionally, socially and physically to his or her full potential, as an individual and as a member of the society, witht he overall aim of making the child useful to himself / herself and the entire society. Other objectives include: a) An appreciation of the varying rates of the children's mental, physical and emotional development and using this in helping the child's learning. b) Providing adequate opportunity for the children to work together to promote their emotional and social development and help in shaping their personalities. c) The arrangement in the school is aimed at helping the child develop, not only as an individual but as a member of a community, expected to contribute to the general well being of the human family. d) Providing the opportunity for children to gain knowledge practically with experience preceding theory. e) Emphasis on expanding skills, method and interests as the child grows f) Helping in the development of a close relationship between school, home and neighborhood using the resources of each to the full.

School History

This school with name Melody Private School was established on January 27, 1997. It was born into existence through a vision and a burden given to Dr. & Mrs. S.A. Okunuga, the school is situated at 9, Ebun Olojede Street, First Gate, Kuje Amuwo, in Amuwo Local Government area of Lagos State. Dr. Okunuga is a PhD holder in Mathematics and was a lecturer at Lagos state University for many years before transferring to University of Lagos, Akoka, while Mrs. R.O. Okunuga is a scholastic educationist with B.Sc (Hons), PGDE and M.Ed degrees. The school - Melody Private School - is a long time heart desire of Dr. & Mrs. Okunuga in order to contribute to the educational sector of which they have always been part of as their career and professional. On this wise they thought it fit to establish a Nursery and Primary School for a start in order to train young children with qualitative and sound education. The school started with one pupil in January 27, 1997, which happened to be the second term of the 1996/97 session. By the time the term ended on April 11, 1997 the number of the pupils has increased to six. The third term began on April 29. 1997 and by the end of the school in July, the pupils in the school have increased to 10 in number. Since the focus is to build up lives of children, Mrs. Okunuga personally decided to serve as both the proprietress and the headmistress (or head teacher) of the school. Hence she is always in the school to run the day-to-day affairs of the school. To complement this effort, Dr. Okunuga holds the post of Chairman of Board of Governors of the school. The motto of the school is "Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding". This the school intends to impart not just knowledge only, but to open up the understanding of the pupils to think ahead and also to grow in wisdom by learning the way of the Lord.
