School History

The systematic history of the proposed CALEB UNIVERSITY dates back to 1986 when Dr. Ola Adebogun planted the initial seed for a Nursery and Primary School in the heart of mainland Lagos. The ever falling standard in public sector education and the demand amongst most parents for school with high academic standards, as well as the inculcation of true Christian values served as the necessary impetus for the creation of Caleb Nursery and Primary School named with the acronym "CALEB", derived from the first letters of the phrase " Commitment to high Academic Standards through Learning methods that make for Excellent leadership and brillinat citizenship; that is C for Commitment; A for Academics; L for Learning; E for Excellence and B for Brilliance". The high academic attainment within the school, coupled with the exemplary moral behaviour of the students increased demand for places in the school, along with an enviable yearning by most parents for a secondary institutions that emphasizes to the same objectives, ambitions, values and teaching methods. This, logically and commitedly, paved way for the establishment of Caleb International College in Magodo GRA, Lagos, in 1995. The college served as a natural transition path for many pupils who have attended Caleb Primary School. Within a few years of establsihment, the performances of the College Students at the Junior and Senior secondary school Certificate Examinations (JSSCE/SSCE) quickly established Caleb amongst the ranks of high flying secondary schools in the country. Its extra-curricular programme, led by its Music Band, was created in 1996. The first overseas Trip for students was organised in 1999. This strengthened its claim to be true International Centre of Learning. In 1999, application for places at the College reached unprecedented levels, with full applications to every available places.
