On the 24th February, 1983, the name of the school was chaged to Sherpherdhill High School. This was in response to government's directive that each school should have its own identity . In January 1989, the school became a completely all girls and assumed the name Sherpherdhill Girls' High School, following the graduation of the last set of boys on the 25th of November, 1988 In September, 2001 Lagos State government returned all schools that were taken over back to their former owners Sherpherdhill Girls High School was taken over by the former owners.
