School History
The school is named after a club in Breadfruit Church in which the founders thought fit to found a secondary school for girls only. The club was "New Era" club and the school was founded in 1948 as the first indigenous girls secondary school in Lagos State Prominent among the founders were Mrs. Remi Doherty, Mrs.Alade, Mrs. Bucknor, Ladies Ademola, Abayomi, Bank Anthony, Alakija, Chief(Mrs) J.K Sagoe, Mrs Ayo Manuwa, Mrs. Soetan, and Mrs. Gomez.The school first started in Taiwo Street, Lagos Island and late Lady Kofoworola Ademola was the first Principal. The school later moved to Idi Oro, then to Bona College Compound in Yaba before finally moving to its present site at Ogunmola close in Surulere on the 18th of January 1966.The first set of students, fifteen in number wrote the West African School Certificate Examination in 1963.
